Marine Conservation

Lamu County Government will be providing greater protection for the treasured sand dunes and the coastal environment. Area Governor Issa Timamy says the sand dunes, a fascinating landscape which is also a major tourist attraction site, warrant proper protection, reports Kenya News.

2020 Yoga Festival

After the success of last year's 6th Lamu Yoga Festival, we're pleased to let you know that the dates for the 7th Festival will be from 4-8 March 2020. Lamu Island Tourism

There's been a noticeable up-tick in visitors to the Lamu archipelago in the last couple of years. It's still delightfully peaceful and laid-back, so we're not talking about vast throngs of tourists. Just a happy improvement in numbers that's great for the local economy.

Scuba Diving

June 2019

Diving from Lamu is best from November to March. There is only one specialist dive operator in Lamu who we can put you in touch with either before you arrive or during your stay. It's run by a very friendly Englishman and the diving is from a traditional dhow at sites around one and a half hours sailing time from the island.
