Getting to Lamu

Deuli House is located in Shela village, 2 miles south of Lamu Town. Lamu Town, Island and Archipelago, all of the same name, lie 2 degrees south of the Equator along Kenya’s coast. The archipelago is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel bordered with dense mangrove forest and protected from the Indian Ocean by coral reefs and large sand dunes.

Via Nairobi

There are regular direct flights from Europe (and elsewhere) to Nairobi, taking approx 8 hours 30 minutes. There are three daily scheduled flights between Nairobi and Lamu, taking approx 90 minutes. Chui, our House Manager, will greet you at the airport in Lamu and take you on our boat for the 10 minute transfer to Deuli House.

Via Mombasa or Malindi

It's also possible to reach us by land although it is a bumpy 7 hour drive from Mombasa and at least 4 hours from Malindi. You will have to park your car on the mainland at the Mokowe jetty and take a boat from there to Shela.
